Description: The first part of this session focuses on comparing and contrasting differences among functional cognitive performance-based assessment methods and tools. Variations in documentation and interpretation of results based on the performance assessment method used will be discussed. The second part of this session emphasizes error analysis methods and is based on chapter 5 in the book, The Multicontext Approach to Cognitive Rehabilitation. Error analysis involves careful observation of how a person goes about doing an activity (without cues). There is a focus on types of errors or patterns observed, strategies used, error recognition or correction, as well as overall performance outcome. Common behaviors and error patterns are identified and classified. Generic structured methods for error analysis will be presented as well as specific tools such as the Weekly Calendar Planning Activity (WCPA). An emphasis will be on interpreting performance-based results such as the WCPA, as a basis for guiding metacognitive strategy treatment such as the Multicontext approach. Active participation is required. Completion of worksheets, polling questions, and interactive discussions with use of the chat feature will be utilized to assess learning objectives stated below. This foundational course along with session 1, meets requirements for part 1 MC certification course.
